Media Policy

1. General Guidelines

  • The OpenSSL Conference welcomes media representatives, journalists, bloggers, and attendees to share their experience while respecting privacy and security considerations.
  • All attendees, including media personnel, must comply with OpenSSL Conference’s Code of Conduct and conference rules.
  • This policy applies to all forms of media, including photography, video/audio recordings, social media posts, and press articles.

2. Press & Media Registration

  • Accredited journalists, bloggers, and media representatives must register in advance for a press pass.
  • OpenSSL Conference reserves the right to approve or deny press credentials based on relevance to the conference themes.
  • Press passes grant access to general sessions, but some closed-door meetings, workshops, or technical sessions may be restricted.

3. Photography & Video Recording

Allowed Without Permission:

  • General photography and video recording in public areas, networking spaces, and exhibition halls.
  • Live tweeting, blogging, and posting updates from open sessions and keynote talks.
  • Sharing event experiences on social media using the official hashtag #OpenSSLConf.

Requires Permission:

  • Recording or photographing technical sessions — Speakers may opt out of recordings.
  • Capturing individual attendees — Ask for consent before recording private conversations.
  • Use of tripods, external microphones, or professional recording setups — Must be approved by the organizers to avoid disruptions.

Prohibited:

  • Live streaming or full-length recording of sessions without explicit approval.
  • Flash photography and intrusive recording devices in sessions to avoid distractions.
  • Covert or unauthorized photography or video in private spaces (e.g., speaker lounge, closed meetings).

4. Live Streaming & Broadcasting

  • Live streaming of sessions is not allowed unless explicitly authorized by OpenSSL Conference organizers.
  • Media must request approval before live-streaming interviews or discussions with speakers or attendees.

5. Speaker & Content Attribution

  • Quotes, images, and excerpts from conference sessions must be properly attributed to the original speaker or OpenSSL Conference.
  • Modifications or misrepresentation of conference content is strictly prohibited.

6. Use of OpenSSL Conference Branding & Materials

  • The OpenSSL Conference logo, trademarks, and branding materials may only be used with prior written approval.
  • Official conference recordings, slides, and materials will be available post-event.

7. Social Media, Online Coverage & Content Attribution

  • Attendees and media are encouraged to share conference content while ensuring proper attribution to speakers and OpenSSL Conference using the official hashtag #OpenSSLConf.
  • Posting live updates, summaries, or insights is allowed unless a session is marked as “Confidential” or “Off the Record.”

8. Violations & Enforcement

  • Failure to comply with this policy may result in removal from the event and/or revocation of press credentials.
  • OpenSSL Conference reserves the right to take action, including banning future media access, against violators of this policy.
  • Repeated or severe violations may result in a permanent ban from future OpenSSL Conferences.
