Dr Lina Boecker is a highly experienced information technology (IT) lawyer and one of the few recognised experts in the field of open-source software (OSS) compliance. She advises companies on all key aspects of open source usage, with a particular focus on code curation, licence analysis and software architecture, helping clients to design and implement robust and practical open source compliance structures. A further core area of Lina’s practice is advising on artificial intelligence. She supports clients in developing and rolling out AI compliance frameworks, navigating the evolving regulatory landscape for AI systems and addressing the contract law issues that arise across the lifecycle of AI projects – from procurement and implementation through to product integration and scaling in complex environments. Lina works particularly at the interface between open source and AI. She develops licensing and compliance strategies for AI systems and models that build on open source components or open models, aligning legal risk management with technical design decisions. In addition, she advises on contract drafting – including development, licence and cooperation agreements – and on technology-driven transactions where IP, data, open source and AI play a central role.
